The Hinono’ei (Arapaho) name for Lichen is bííteibé(í)yookú, meaning "ghost tears". On the faces of boulders, tiny rock lichens look like trails and puddles of salty dried tears. They are collected, dried, pounded, and with water, made into a wash for the eyes 🌾💚🌾
